A Remarkable Shelby County Collection — Antiques, Glassware & Americana

Swisher Bros. Auction is proud to present an exceptional collection from a well-known local Shelby County family with deep roots in the community and ties to Carriss Grocery, a longtime and familiar local establishment. Built and preserved over the years, this collection offers a wonderful glimpse into generations of collecting, local history, and classic Americana.

At the heart of the sale is an impressive collection of Moon and Star patterned glass, represented in amberina, emerald and avocado green, cobalt and teal blue, ruby red, milk glass, and other striking colors. Also featured are uranium and Depression glass, carnival glass, Fenton, Fire-King, opalescent hobnail, cut crystal, stoneware, ironstone, and vintage art glass.

The auction is rich with country primitives and early American furnishings, including tiger oak and Victorian furniture, stoneware crocks and jugs, butter churns, oil and kerosene lamps, handmade quilts, cast iron, washboards, hand tools, carved duck decoys, stereoscopes, and other pieces with wonderful country character.

Collectors will find an extensive selection of vintage advertising and general-store memorabilia, including Coca-Cola, Pepsi-Cola, Planters Mr. Peanut, tobacco advertising, clocks, thermometers, tins, signs, store displays, and numerous Shelbyville and Kentucky pieces—many with particular appeal to collectors of local history.

Also included are large collections of antique and vintage marbles, advertising ephemera, Kentucky Derby memorabilia, toys, sewing collectibles, firearms and ammunition, artwork, porcelain, lighting, furniture, and countless unusual finds.

More than simply an auction, this is a collection with local history, family provenance, and generations of character behind it—an opportunity to acquire pieces from a familiar Shelby County family and a collection deeply connected to the community.
