Specifications: 2 leaves, IV, 330, [2] pages, paper. 17 cm. Inscribed and autographed by the author, with owner signatures and stamps. Picture of the author pasted to the endpaer.

Rabbi Zadoc Kahn [1839-1905] was the rabbi of Paris, and beginning in 1889, Chief Rabbi of France. He was a leader of the Chibat Tzion movement and head of the French branch of the organization. He persuaded Baron Edmond de Rothschild to assist the Zionist settlements in Palestine. He battled to prove Dreyfus' innocence and combated anti-Semitism.

He published articles in Knesset Chachmei Yisrael [1893-1900] and wrote a number of books, including this collection of sermons and speeches. This book was printed in [1875], and is the first section of a four-volume series. This copy was inscribed by the author to his friend, Rabbi Isaac Bloch, rabbi of Nice, whose name is embossed on the binding of the book.

Condition: Fine. Aging stains. Short tears in the endpapers.
