JAMES EARL RAY
(1928 - 1998) Assassin of Martin Luther King whom he killed in Memphis in 1968. A.L.S. "James" on lined paper, 1p. 4to., [Brushy Mountain State Prison], April 20, 1981, to his wife Anna Sandhu Ray whom he married in jail in 1978. In part: "�You have been very sweet to me the last 3 days � don't be too concerned about the turn-keys�don't worry too much about your weight � if you ride the Bike it may help you sleep. I feel a bit sluggish sometimes�because I am about 70lbs over weight�will phone Tuesday unless the phone is out of order�" Ray signs at the conclusion. Fine.
