Rare Kabbalistic Manuscript, copy of Olas Tamid by Rabbi Chaim Vital. Jerusalem, 1758
The manuscript of Olas Tamid by Rabbi Chaim Vital was
handwritten by the Rashash’s scribe, the kabbalist Rabbi Yehosef David Edrei. In 1642 the famed kabbalist Rabbi Yaakov Tzemach discovered Rabbi Chaim Vital’s manuscripts concealed and buried in the ground.
Based on these original writings, Rabbi Tzemach edited and compiled Olas Tamid which encompasses all the sacred intentions (kavanos) related to prayer.
The present manuscript was written in the beautiful, neat handwriting of the famed Kabbalist Rabbi Yehosef Edrei, who was the personal scribe and talmid of the saintly Kabbalist, the Rashash. The former also copied other Kabbalistic manuscripts on behalf of Yeshivas Beis-E-l in Yerushalayim during the years 1755-1771.
The manuscript’s title page features the following inscription by Rabbi Yehosef: “This sefer was begun on Rosh Chodesh Teves, 5518 (1758) to the creation of the world in Jerusalem, may she be speedily rebuilt, by the youth Yehosef David Edrei” .
Jerusalem, 1758. 119 leaves with several pages blanks. Page size: 21x16cm. Thick paper. Minor holes on margins of the last pages. Original leather binding small holes and slight flaws.
