Protection and Healing! Sefer Raziel HaMalach, Amsterdam 1701 – First Edition.
Sefer Raziel HaMalach, containing profound matters in the secrets of Torah and practical Kabbalah, attributed to Adam HaRishon (though the Gra and others attribute it to Rabbi Eliezer of Worms, the author of the Rokeach), edited by Rabbi Yitzchak ben Avraham, dayan of the kehillah in Amsterdam, Amsterdam 1701 – First Edition.
Sefer Raziel HaMalach – Its Content, Acceptance, and Segulah
Sefer Raziel HaMalach includes Sefer HaMalbush, Sefer Sodi Razaya by the Baal HaRokeach, Pirushei Shem HaMeforash, selections from Sefer HaRazim, Maaseh Bereishis, Shiur Komah, as well as amulets and incantations.
This sefer was cherished by the gedolim of chassidus, and it is recorded in the introduction to Maggid Devarav L’Yaakov by the Maggid of Skohl, Zy”a, that he heard from the holy Maggid of Mezritch, Zy”a,
that the Braisas in Sefer Raziel HaMalach and those in Sefer Maayan HaChochmah were taught to him by his Rebbe, the Baal Shem Tov, Zy”a (see also Shu”t Mefaneach Ne’elamim, Siman 3). Additionally, the Maggid of Kozhnitz wrote glosses on this sefer (Warsaw 1812).
It is well known among Klal Yisrael that Sefer Raziel HaMalach has a powerful segulah for protection against fires and safeguarding newborns. The sefer is considered a source of protection according to the tradition, as the printer notes, "...
an excellent segulah for seeing wise and understanding children, for success and blessing, to extinguish fires that may threaten his home, and to prevent any harmful spirit or evil from dwelling in his abode. This holy, precious, and awesome sefer should be hidden and stored away with his treasures, and in his time of need, it will bring him swift salvation. This is attested to by all who are learned in Torah..."
Furthermore, as cited in the Midrash (Otzar Midrashim, p. 401), the Malach instructed Adam HaRishon when giving him the sefer, "Guard it carefully."
It is also a tradition that placing the sefer near a sick person can bring healing (Shu”t Divrei Malkiel, Vol. 2, Siman 166; Ali Tamr, Shabbos Perek 6).
