Seder HaPragmatica. Mantua. Mid-18th Century. Very Rare
Large printed leaf - pragmatic regulations for the Mantua community. C. mid-18th century [1753].
These regulations define and limit dress and adornment, women going out in public, dining and gift expenses, dancing and merriment.
A pragmatics leaf with similar regulations is known, but there the regulations were set for six years - from the year (5)519 [1759] to the year (5)525 [1765]. In this copy, the top and bottom of the page are lacking, but the section in which the year (5)519 [1759] remains as the year of completion of the regulations remains.
Researcher Sh. Simonson, in his excellent book Toldot HaYehudim B'Duchsot Mantua. Part II (Jerusalem, 1965) p. 394, mentions Seder Pragmatica printed in Mantua from 1753, valid through 1759, according to the single copy in his possession. It may be identical to this copy here.
[1] large leaf, affixed to paper for reinforcement. Large leaf: 40x33 cm. Maximum size: 36x45.5 cm.
Moderate condition. Several lines are lacking on the top of the leaf and its bottom. Worming tunnel with damage to several words. Wear and tear.
