Special prayer composed by Rabbi Yisrael Abrahams for Yom Kippur, 1946, for the Jews of Europe killed in the Holocaust and the survivors. Published by the Western Province Zionist Council, Capetown, Africa. Hebrew and English on facing pages.
"... our mouths do not have sufficient words to narrate even a little bit of our many troubles, and we lack the tears to cry about the magnitude of the tragedy of our nation, because our tragedy is too great to bear. Our brethren who live in Europe fell victim ... six million. Like lions they fought, but their energy weakened and like lambs to slaughter they were led. They were killed in unusual ways, some were even buried alive ... a tiny bit remain for us as survivors ... and even those who survived the sword were not given redemption. They still sit imprisoned ... crying and sad in the DP camps, lacking freedom and redemption ..."
