Zera Yitzchak. Amsterdam, 1798, First Edition. Gift of the Author's Son

Zera Yitzchak. A work on the three things which the world rests on, Torah, Avodah and Gemillut Chasadim, by Yitzchak son of Avraham, known as  Rabbi Yitzchak HaGer. Amsterdam, 1798.

Specification: [5] 38 leaves, 20 cm. First edition. Special copy.

Background: An interesting work written by Rabbi Aharon Moshe Yitzchak Granbaum, known as Rabbi Yitzchak the Ger, with approbations of Rabbi Shaul of Amsterdam and other Rabbis from Amsterdam, the Hague and Rotterdam, praising and extolling the author. The author relates his life story in a long introduction. His non-Jewish father lived in a place where no Jews were found, and he discovered God and converted to Judaism on his own volition. He left his dwelling place, and began to wander from place to place, and as a result was in great danger.

Unique Features: A special copy. On the inside of the binding is a sticker on which is written that this book was given as a gift by Yisrael, son of the author our master and teacher the great and famous Gaon, Rabbi Yitzchak Ger Tzedek, in 1820...

Background: Rabbi Yisrael son of the author, wrote the book 'Melitz Yosher' which was printed in Amsterdam in 1809, in which he defended various things which his father decreed in the Adat Yeshurun congregation of Amsterdam, which were challenged by several people. This book was printed anonymously, but Rabbi Yisrael, the author's son is known to have written it. Refer to: A. Ya'ari, Rabbi Yitzchak son of Avraham HaGer, Mizrach U'Ma'arav, 5, 1930. Page 323-325.

Condition: Fine. Original cardboard binding, slightly faded, with a string for tying.
