Sefer Einei Avraham - wonderful work on the "great eagle, " the Ramba"m - studies on the Ramba"m and his commentators, regarding practical commandments for sacrifices, by Rabbi Avraham son of Rabbi Yeuda Tzepig of Tunis. Amsterdam, 1784. Only edition. Copy given by the author.
The title page bears an interesting self-dedication in Oriental script from the time of printing, "Gifted by the author to me, the youth Yehoshua Shaul ..." According to the form of the script and the date of printing as well as other supporting evidence, the writer of the dedication and the book's owner was the renowned gaon Rabbi Raphael Mordechai Yehoshua Shaul, author of Dover Meisharim on the Ramba"m.
The author's preface and the many approbations relate that the author became blind as a child and remained blind for the rest of his life, hence the book's title, Einei Avraham. It also relates that he himself wrote the manuscript. The author was born in Tunis and ascended to Jerusalem. Refer to: A. Ya'ari, Mechkerei Sefer p. 138.
The book was given many approbations by Ashkenazic and Sephardic rabbis of Amsterdam; the Mahari"t Algazi; Rabbi Yechezkel Landau, author of the Noda BiYehudah; Rabbi David Pardo; Rabbi Ephraim Navon and many more.
