Tractates Brachot and Rosh HaShanah. Vilna, [1880]. First edition, with the stamp of Rabbi Simcha Shapira of Lentzhot, the grandson of the Bnei Yissachar, and the stamp of his son-in-law Rabbi Shalom Rubin of Dombrov.
The signatures appear in several places in the book. The seal of Rabbi Simcha Shapira is also on the last page of tractate Rosh Hashanah. Tractate Rosh Hashanah without a title page. Very good condition.
The holy Rabbi Simcha Shapira was born in 1840. His father Rabbi Elazar of Lentzhot was the son of the holy Rabbi Tzvi Elimelech of Dynow the author of "Bnei Yissachar", and the son-in-law of Rabbi Yisrael Leib Wahrman, the son of the holy Rabbi the author of the 'Da'at Kedoshim' of Botshashtz .From the year 1865 he took the position of his father and led the Chassidim, who saw him as their Rebbe, for about fifty years. Passed away on Motza'ei Yom Kippur in the year 1913. He learnt from his older brother Rabbi Shlomo of Strizov the father of the author of "Darchei Tshuvah" of Munkatch.
His son-in-law, mentioned above, Rabbi Shalom Rubin (1857-1924) was the son of Rabbi Meir of Glagov, who was the son of Rabbi Menachem Mendel, the son of Rabbi Asher Yeshaya, the son of Naftali Rofshitz of Rofshitz. Rabbi Shalom Rubin served as Rabbi of Raisha.
