GI Bring-back Grouping: BYF 41 Mauser Luger - Matching Mag & Binoculars
GI Bring-back Grouping: BYF 41 Mauser Luger - Matching Mag & Binoculars. BYF 41 Mauser Luger and a pair of German binoculars. Accompanying this grouping is a letter from the daughter of the GI who brought these items home, William Sobjack. In the letter, she talks about her father, some of his experiences during the war, and how he came to acquire these items. Also included in the grouping are photocopies of the Certificate of Retention and Customs Declaration (lists the gun by serial number), Willam's Honorable Discharge Certificate, and his Enlistment Record and Report of Separation. The gun is a Mauser Luger that would've been issued to the Nazi military in 1941. It is all matching with the proper "Eagle 655" military acceptance proofs. It comes with one original matching-numbered magazine. Lightly scratched onto the left side of the frame is "MR123" and on the front strap "RM 2126885". The gun's original finish rates somewhere between 85-90%. The majority of the wear is on the right side rail, but there is also general high edge wear, muzzle wear, and some pin-pricking on the back strap. The binoculars are in very nice condition overall with clear optics. However, the stitching on the leather strips of the body are coming apart.
