Strelisk dynasty. Sefer Dema'os Shalish. Author's manuscript:  Rabbi Uri Landman av”d Pudolia

Kuntress Menachem Aveilim – eulogy for the tzaddikim of the chassidut, written by Rabbi Uri Landman, patriarch of the rabbis and admors of the Landman family.

Includes a eulogy for three righteous people: Rabbi Avraham Yaakov of Sadigura, Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Vishnitz, and Rabbi Chanoch Henoch of Alesk.

Lengthy eulogy that includes elucidations on the sayings of Chazal regarding the death of righteous people and halachic pilpul, the introduction to the eulogy refers to the passing of these three righteous people.
Rabbi Uri signs off, "Which I have prepared, I, the young Uri, Av Beis Din of Pudolia, which is in the country Romania, in the year 1884."

**********
Though the title page lists the title of the kuntress as Menachem Aveilim and the introduction explains why the author gave the kuntress this title, it was later printed by the author under the title Dema'os Shalish in Czernowitz 1885 with many supplements and changes. This manuscript was apparently the first draft of the work, handwritten, with many deletions and changes that appear in the printed edition.
This is the only work by this author that he printed himself!
**********
The author, Rabbi Uri Landman [1838-1917], was the son of Rabbi Zvi Hirsch av”d Strelisk and Kitov [who was the son-in-law of the son of Rabbi Uri of Strelisk] and the son-in-law of Rabbi Mordechai of Apte [son-in-law of the son-in-law of the Chozeh of Lublin]. He served as av”d in וישנוביץ and Podu Iloaiei in Romania. He was a disciple of Rabbi Yitzchak of Neshkitz. A few of his works were published recently: The Ohr Yitzhar on Megillat Esther, Haggadah shel Pesach, High Holidays and more. He was the patriarch of the famed rabbis and Admors of the Landman family.

[1], 40 pages. 23x14 cm.
Light tears to the last leaf. Apparently missing a page or two at its conclusion. Neat title page. Nice, new leather binding.
