Mander s'ischt Zeit! "(" Men, it's time! ") Was a well-known battle cry of the Tyrolean freedom hero Andreas Hofer during the popular uprising against Bavaria and the French in 1809. The Austrian Chancellor Kurt von Schuschnigg chose the same words during a speech on March 9, 1938 in view of the threat posed by Germany to emphasize that he would fight for a free and independent Austria.After the "Anschluss" of Austria, the National Socialists took up this slogan to address politicians like Kurt von Schuschnigg (center) as well Imprison or expel Jews, Social Democrats and other opponents of the “Anschluss.” Only then would Austria really be free, according to the postcard.
