Max Zweig (1892 -1992) was a German-Jewish playwright.
After completing a law degree, he graduated as a freelance writer in Vienna and Berlin. After the transfer of power to the National Socialists in Germany, he had to emigrate to Prague in 1934. From there he fled to Tel Aviv in involuntary exile in 1938 - he never learned Hebrew there, for fear of intensifying his literary expressiveness in German by engaging in intensive work with another language.
Max Zweig was a cousin of Stefan Zweig.
