Hard combined owner's binding with the "Lenin Library" lettering; standard format (15 x 23 cm). The top and bottom of the berth are slightly worn; there is a trace of an erased pencil stroke on the title; isolated and insignificant foxings, traces of moisture, ink spots, owner's marks on the pages.
["Sovetskaya Kolyma" - publishing house of the NKVD Dalstroy, which existed in Magadan in 1936-1954. It produced socio-political, industrial and artistic literature.
For the design of the books, artists from prisoners serving prison terms on the Kolyma were seconded-Valentin Antoshchenko-Olenev and Isaac Sherman. The names of the artists-prisoners were not indicated on the publications they illustrated. After their release, the artists worked in the publishing house on the terms of free employment.
In the first years of its existence, the publishing house published local periodicals of a political nature (newspapers "Sovetskaya Kolyma", "Verny Put", "Orochelskaya Pravda", "Strelok VOHRa", magazines" Kolyma", " Pioneer of Kolyma", " Kolyma Almanac"), pamphlets ("Library of Stakhanovets"), orders, instructions.
During the Great Patriotic War, the activities of the "Soviet Kolyma" were defined by the slogan " Everything for the front! Everything for victory!". The publishing house promptly produced practical manuals and manuals for soldiers and the population, reviews of military operations based on the materials of the central press, and brochures.]
