Nikolay Polevoy (1796-1846), Russian writer, literary critic, journalist, historian, translator.

In the literary circles of St. Petersburg, he was accepted as a "nugget", "self-taught merchant". Met with A. S. Griboedov, V. A. Zhukovsky,

met by V. F. Bulgarini, N. I Graham. P. Svin'in in his "notes of the Fatherland" were published his articles on literary and historical themes, the poems.

In 1825-1834 he published the magazine "literature, criticism and art" "Moscow Telegraph". The proposed volume is one of six published as a satirical

appendices to the Moscow Telegraph.
