Soren Christian Bjulf - Fishermen's Wives
Item/Description: Signed oil painting by renowned Dutch artist, Soren Christian Bjulf (1890-1958). Depicts two kerchiefed fisherwomen at market. Gammel Strand, Copenhagen, the setting of many of Bjulf's works. Thick impasto brushstrokes. Artist signed lower left: Bjulf.
Soren Christian Bjulf (1890-1958) was a Danish painter of landscapes, street scenes, portraits and interiors. Studied in Dusseldorf and Paris, and was predominantly known for his depictions of the fish market at Gammel Strand, Copenhagen.
