The report was written by Prof. R.A.S Macalister - a British archaeologist who headed the British Foundation for the Study of the Land of Israel and conducted, among other things, the excavations of the biblical city of Gezer.
Haopoel, a biblical nickname for a certain part of a city. In the Bible, Ophel is mentioned in the context of two cities: Samaria and Jerusalem.
The origin of the word from the root A.PL which exists in several Semitic languages and means ascended or exalted.
In the book, dozens of maps and photographs from the excavation sites, some more than double in size, are folded
