Sod Hashem - On Brit Milah, Including Segulot and Cures. Amsterdam, 1745. Miniature Edition.
Sod Hashem, a composition on Brit Milah, including the text of the Brit ceremony, Pidyon Haben and Birkat HaMazon, with the refrains for a Brit Milah. Written by Rabbi Dovid Lida, with the Halachic rulings of Mahari Veil and others.
Includes cures and segulot in German [at the end written in Yiddish language using Hebrew lettering].
Owner’s signature in ancient handwriting on the title page.

Rabbi David Lida (1632-1696) was a Kabbalist and great scholar. He served as Rabbi of Ostro, Mainz and Ashkenaz communities in Amsterdam. He was accused of Sabbateanism and of plagiarism. He was eventually acquitted of these accusations and returned to his Rabbinical post that he had been dismissed from.

30 leaves. 16 cm, miniature. Very good condition.
Especially beautiful copy: Beautiful binding with gilt decorations and a matching, leather-covered box. Gilt-edged pages.
