Torah scroll section in early Ashkenazi script. 13th-14th century. Very rare.
Ashkenazi Torah scrolls from that period are especially rare. The pogroms and massacres suffered by the Ashkenazi communities did not spare the Sifrei Torah, which were destroyed and disappeared.
The antiquity of this Torah fragment can also be determined from the form of the script, in which the leg of the heh and the koph are connected to the top of the letters. It is well known that this form is found in very old Sifrei Torah and is documented in the sources (Cf. Torah Shleima Section 22, Miluim Chapter 8).
