Pakhomov Aleksey Fedorovich (1900, Varlamovo village – 1973, Leningrad).
People’s Artist of the USSR, acting member of the USSR Academy of Artists. Laureate of the USSR State Prizes (1946, 1973). Studied in Leningrad in Shtiglits College (1915-17 and in 1921) under V.V. Lebedev, N.A. Tyrsa, during 1922-1925 studied at VKHUTEIN. Gave lessons at Repin Institute of Arts, Sculpture and Architecture и Ленинграде (since 1948; professor since 1949). Illustrated books for children and about children: collaborated with publishers of children magazines, such as “Chizh”, “Yozh” and “Kostyor”. His works can be found in the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum and many museum collections of Russia.
