A fine, lovely, Chinese painting by Huang Yoawei, depicting a red gate to a Beijing Hutong old house.
Huang Yoawei is a very famous and well known Chinese artist.
Once, watercolors capture the old spirit of China, the Hutongs (old, communal compound, dating to the 13th cent., especially in Beijing, and all over china).
By the end of the 1990s, all of this wonderful ancient compounds and buildings were gone, giving way to new high rise bldg.
This specific watercolor depicts the red wooden gate, serving as an entrance to a Qing dyn. family courtyard of an official.
