Rare: Selichos for The Entire Year According to The Ashkenazic Rite, Venice 1548.
Presented here is an extremely rare edition of Selichos prayers for the entire year, according to the Ashkenazic rite. Printed at Venice in 1548. Contains the Selichos said for the days of Selichos (before Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur), Aseres Yemei Teshuvah, Mondays and Thursdays (BaHab), Fast Days and for Bris Milah. Also contains the Torah reading and Haftorah for Fast days. Translation for many obscure words is printed at the margins.
A lacking copy. Title page, first 3 leaves and final 3 leaves are provided in professional expert facsimile (almost no visible difference is noticeable between the facsimile and original pages). Otherwise in very good condition. Few expert marginal repairs, not affecting text. Wax stains, which add a unique 16th century charm are seen on several leaves. These stains were caused by candles, as these prayers were recited by candlelight while still dark in the early hours of the morning. Bound in a new, ornate full-leather binding.
The rarity and scarcity of this edition cannot be overstated. To the best of our knowledge, this edition was seen only twice at auction in the last two decades.
