GOVERNMENT RECEIPTS FOR KOSHER SLAUGHTER
Pair of receipts issued by the town of Miskolc in northeastern Hungary and required by Jews prior to their kosher slaughter of poultry and cattle. These fees were paid by individual community members. Each bears details of the quantity or weight of the slaughtered animal, the fee and the year of validity. The examples offered here include a 1932 permit for a sheep and a 1936 permit for 125 grams of beef. Very rare.
