GERMAN ANTI-SEMITIC RESORT POSTCARD
Postcard from the German seaside resort of Borkum, a notoriously anti-Semitic resort which prided itself on excluding Jews and widely advertised the fact. In fact, a "Borkum-song" was composed and sung every Sunday, in part: "On Borkum's beach only German is valid, the breeding is only German. We keep the honor plate Germania for and for! But whoever approaches you with flat feet, crooked noses and frizzy hair should not enjoy your beach, he must go out, he must go out! " This insulting postcard from Borkum bears a caricature of a Jewish man on a bicycle exclaiming: "Uff! Towards Norderney" A hog chases after him as his bicycle runs over a second hog before him. Very good. Norderney was one of the few resorts left available for access to Jews.
