GERMAN COLONIAL ANTI-SEMITIC POSTCARD
Early German anti-Semitic postcard referencing Germany's foreign colonies, 1899, shows a caricature of a Jew in a room labeled "German Colonial Politics" displaying a map to a group of Christian Germans and their children. On the opposite side of the room, another "Jew" displays a document to another man as despairing women and children lie at his feet. The card is captioned at top: "The German - he is compelled, The Jew may stay. The garlic is blooming, And it must stink." Mailed from Krefeld on the Polish border whose Jews were murdered in the Rumbula forest massacre.
