Princess Diana Owned & Worn Skirt
This pure wool silk lined skirt was donated along with a number of other items of clothing, donated to a Kensington children's charity shop in 1981. This pure wool skirt was made in Scotland. The skirt is small in size and is in good condition for age. It comes with a signed receipt for the items (copy only as original receipt is being sold with one of the dresses), as it was issued at the time she dropped the items off. The silk lining needs repair. I worked at a charity shop as a volunteer in 1981 when Diana came in and dropped off a number of items of clothing. She did not mention her name, but I knew her face, as I had noticed it in the newspapers. She said she wanted to do a clean out of some of her personal effects as they would not be needed because she was moving. She believed that others would benefit from the sale of her items, but requested that tags be removed before they were offered for sale. As we were talking, she started to be more relaxed and opened up to me. This was not the first or last time we came face to face. I loved the items and felt they needed to be preserved and felt I could use them myself, so donated for the items and never did get to wear them, but stored them away. I had forgotten about them until I did a clean out as I was moving and came across the items. It is time for someone to enjoy them.
