Letter of Torah novellae by the Rogachover Gaon, Rabbi Yosef Rosen of Dvinsk. Regarding an Error in a Lottery Win. 1928
Handwritten and signed letter of response from the tremendous luminary Rabbi Yosef Rosen, Av Beis Din of Dvinsk – the Rogachover, in the matter of a lottery in which an error occurred.
The Rogachover’s response was characteristically sharp and reflected his extensive knowledge, with over 30 citations to back up his opinion.
“An issue in and of itself, that is not within the regular framework of talmidei chachamim and geonim…such was the Torah personality of the Rogachover Gaon (1858-1936)…When you peruse his books your head spins from all the citations, but they were relevant to his ingenious analyses and his elucidations – his original interpretations.” (Ishim V’Shitos)
