Approx. 340 photographs; most of them are family photographs from the 1940s and 1950s and some of them document Palestine during the years before the establishment of the state, the early days of the IDF, the young Women's Corps and more. Israel, 1940s and 1950s (several earlier or later photographs).
Including: * A family album with approx. 300 photographs. Most of the photographs document the life of the family during the decades around the establishment of the State of Israel and some document the political upheavals themselves: HaMelachim St. of Haifa after the bombing of the British CID in 1974; the Declaration of Independence day in Haifa; photographs of soldiers of the newly established Medical Corps; and more.
* Approx. 40 photographs documenting Jewish soldiers in the British army, members of underground organizations and the early days of the IDF: a parade on Jewish Soldier Day in Tel-Aviv, 1942; Lechi member Henya Dessau in the London Square in Tel-Aviv, 1947. An inscription was added on the photograph condemning the British occupation; a concert conducted by Arthur Rubenstein in honor of the conquering of Be'er Sheva, in the Old City of Be'er Sheva, November, 1948; a trip of the command of the 201 battalion of the Women's Corps to the Negev. Ca. early 1949. Including photographs of the battalion commander Shoshana Warner (later Chief Officer of the Women's Corps), the ruins of Kibbutz Negba and the conquered Iraq Suwaydan Police Fort; the Independence Day Parade in Haifa, 1953.
Many photographs are captioned on verso. Several photographs are stamped on verso with the stamp "Photo Alexander" (Hebrew).
Size and condition vary. Good overall condition. Ownership inscriptions on verso of several of the photographs.
