The eulogy is written entirely in German besides for the words “Zecher tzaddik l’vracha” at the conclusion of the eulogy.
Rabbi Samson Refael Hirsch (1808 - 1888) was one of the greatest leaders of Ashkenazic Jewry. He valiantly fought against the Enlightenment and assimilation, and being a prolific writer, authored many articles of guidance addressed to the youth of his time. His teachings have become a cornerstone of Ashkenazic worldview.
