Letter from Rabbi Reuven Grozovsky, Son-in-law of Rabbi Baruch Ber Leibowitz, During their Travels in America

Rare handwritten letter from Rabbi Reuven Grozovsky, son-in-law of Rabbi Baruch Ber Leibowitz, written on his father-in-law’s letterhead during their joint travels to the United States.
Dated 1929 -1930, Rabbi Reuven writes that they are extending their stay in the United States as they did not wish to return to Kaminetz empty handed.

Rabbi Reuven Grozovsky (1886 - 1958) was the son-in-law and successor of Rabbi Baruch Ber Leibowitz. His novellae are published in Chidushei Rabbi Reuven on Talmud.
Following the harsh financial situation facing the Kaminetz Yeshiva, Rabbi Reuven set out with his father-in-law in 1928 to the United States in order to fundraise. They spent a year and a half traveling the length and breadth of the country until finally returning to Kamenetz. Following Rabbi Baruch Ber’s passing, Rabbi Reuven succeeded his position as Rosh Yeshiva.
In 1941, Rabbi Reuven immigrated to the United States where he assisted many of the yeshiva’s disciples exiled in Siberia. He served as Rosh Yeshiva of Torah V’Daas, New York, and Beis Midrash Elyon, Monsey. Rabbi Reuven also served as president of the
Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of the United States Agudas Yisrael.
