A silver cross of the Order of Virtuti Militari 5th degree. Ref: Smirnov No. 463, B (MD) No. 824 (R1), Diakov # 499.1 (R2). Instituted by the decree of Emperor Nicholas I on December 31, 1831 after the capture of Warsaw to reward lower ranks, paramedics and barbers participating in the pacification of the Polish uprising of 1830-1831. By a decree of July 25, 1834, non-combatant ranks of the army also received the right to be awarded the order. The cross was awarded until January 1, 1843. 100,000 pieces were minted. Silver: 0.27oz., 7.86 g.
