R. Yisroel Gershon HaLevi Soloveitchik. Son of R. Chaim Brisker. Publisher of the Chidushei Rabbeinu Chaim HaLevi.
Signed letter by R. Yisroel Gershon Soloveitchik. Written by Rebbetzin Soloveitchik in Yiddish, to their son R. Moshe Soloveitchik, who had escaped from Brisk to Switzerland (together with R. Aaron Leib Shteinman).
R. Yisrael Gershon Soloveitchik (1875-1941), was the eldest son of R. Chaim Soloveitchik of Brisk. Born in Volozhin, he was a close talmid of his father, as well as his grandfather, the Beis HaLevi. After his marriage, he lived in Brisk where he was well-known as an outstanding Talmid Chochom. He inherited the manuscripts of the Chidushei Rabbeinu Chaim HaLevi by his venerated father, ultimately publishing them in 1936, asking the Brisker Rav to write the introduction. R. Yisroel Gershon and nearly his entire family were tragically murdered by the Nazis.
19 by 14 cm. Handwritten on both sides of the page. Excellent condition.
Opening bid $550
