Autograph postcard, sent to a family member in Yerusholayim, with a lengthy note by the legendary Gabbai R. Chaim Ber Greenfeld. With warm brochos that the recipient’s wife, should give birth safely to a healthy child.
R. Chaim Elozor Schapiro (1868-1937), was a son and talmid of R. Tzvi Hirsch Schapiro (Darkei Teshuva) and was a direct descendant of R. Tzvi Elimelech Schapiro of Dinov (Bnei Yissoschar). In 1903, he was appointed Rosh Beis Din in Munkacs alongside his father who served as Rov. With his father’s passing in 1913, he succeeded him as Rov of Munkacs. Known as a tremendous Talmid Chochom and prolific author he authored over twenty seforim on wide range of subjects, most notably responsa Minchas Elozor after which he is known. He was a fierce opponent of both political Zionism and Agudas Yisroel, exerting tremendous energies to maintain traditional Yiddishkeit without any deviations.
