Letter of Approbation for a Ritual Slaughterer from Calcutta, 1907
Letter of approbation from Rabbi Meir Tzalach Yosef Chaim Eini for ritual slaughterer R' Yechezkel Chaim Ezra - Yechezkel Chaim HaCohen of Calcutta (India).
In this letter of approbation, the approbator attests that the above ritual slaughterer studied the art of ritual slaughter with him and he found his knife to be fitting, "He has slaughtered before me, and has been granted permission to slaughter fowl ... I have signed my name here in Lahavat." We have not managed to identify this location - whether it is in India, or perhaps in the region of Baghdad?
