Tzemach Tzedek. With Accolades of the Vilna Gaon not Printed in Subsequent Editions

Rulings on the four parts of the Shulchan Aruch, by the Admor Rabbi Menachem Mendel [Schneerson]. Vilna, 1884. Two parts. First edition.

Specifications: Part I. Orach Chaim and Yoreh Deah: [2], 286 leaves. 22 cm.
Part II. Even HaEzer Choshen Mishpat, novellae on Tractate Yevamot and more. [4], 100, 140 pages, without [7] at the end of the second part with corrections, as is also the case in the copy recorded in the Bibliography of the Hebrew Book. 22 cm. Each section has two title pages, the first title page is partial.

Unique Features: In part II, p. 138, the author quotes the Vilna Gaon and writes: "And I, in my distress, did not merit to understand his holy words ..." In other editions of the book, these words were erased and replaced with "And there is no answer ..." Rabbi Yitzchak Hutner wrote to the Kehat of Chabad regarding this, and they replied that the actual wording is "And there is no answer ..." whereas the text before us was changed and forged by printers the in Vilna who opposed Chasidism. They therefore reprinted the last pages with the text "And there is no answer ..." See: Yeshurun, Vol. 2, Adar 5768, p 790-793. Attached is material on the matter.

Condition: Very fine, with the exception of a disintegrated binding.
