Handpainted "Shiviti" – Iraq
Large "Shiviti", for hanging on the wall. Iraq, [early 1950s]. Ink and color on paper. Script: Zaki Cohen. A large "LaMenatze'ach" Menorah in the center. Painted on both sides are hands holding "chains" consisting of verses ending with an oil vessel and the "shovel". Dedication is inscribed next to the Menorah's base":Dedicated by …in memory of her husband …and her daughter…Nissan 1951, scribe Zaki his son". Height: 78 cm, width: 50 cm. Staining. Original wood and glass frame, with wooden back. Stains on frame.
