Military Ring – "The Eighth Army" – Tripoli, 1943
Military ring. Tripoli, 1943.
Silver (marked).
The ring has a rectangular face engraved with a Star of David and the initials "JK". The rest of the band is engraved with the date: 24/1/43 (day after the 8th Army occupied Tripoli), a tree and an architectural structure. The back of the band is inscribed: "VIII Armi". On the left side of the Star of David the word "Tripoli" is engraved, and underneath it a stylized tree.
In the course of WWII, the Eighth corps of the British army, in cooperation with soldiers of the Jewish Brigade served in North Africa. It is possible that the ring belonged to a Jewish soldier.
