Hebrew translation of "The Handbook of Palestine", edited by Harry Charles Luke, assistant governor of Jerusalem, and Edward Keith-Roach, assistant chief secretary to the governor of Palestine, with an introduction by Sir Herbert Samuel, the High Commissioner for Palestine. Translated from English and adapted by Yitzchak A. Abadi, Jerusalem: "Zion" Rohald press, [1924].
A book about Palestine by the British government officials, Harry Charles Luke and Edward Keith-Roach. The book reviews the geography and history of Palestine, its various inhabitants, the Mandate government and its activity, and more. At the end of the book there are appendices which include the text of the first White Paper, the constitution of Palestine, and more; as well as advertisements of various companies and businesses in Palestine.
On the first page appears a handwritten Hebrew dedication to Sophia Berger, the director of the "Orphan Committee of Palestine": "To our respected director Mrs. Sophia Berger, a souvenir of friendship on the day she travels to America. By the staff of members of the Orphan Committee of Palestine. Jerusalem… 1924/XI/27".
[14], 268, [2], 26 pp, 21 cm. Good condition. Minor stains (mainly to edges). Elegant binding with gilt decorations. Stains on the binding and small tears to spine. Hebrew stamp on the inside front binding ("Asher Korech Jerusalem Jaffa St.").
