A carved marble head of a female, possibly the Roman goddess Venus (Greek Aphrodite), with hair in a chignon, stern facial features, small lips parted, locating lug to the underside. 16.4 kg, 30cm (11 3/4"). Fine condition, some light abrasion.
Provenance
From an old European collection; acquired in Munich in the 1970s.
