A whetstone comprising a round-section sharpening stone shaft, tubular silver handle formed as the head of a boar with open mouth; two ferrous attachment pins. 55 grams, 12.5cm (5"). Fine condition, usage wear. Rare.

Previously in a private family collection, 1980s; previously with Pierre Bergé & Associés, Archéologie, Paris, 21 May 2014, lot 137 (5,000-6,000 euros); accompanied by copies of the relevant Pierre Bergé catalogue pages.
