A raised oval red carnelian intaglio gemstone engraved with the Roman god Sol standing next to an altar, holding a whip(?). 1.34 grams, 15.80mm (1/2"). Very fine condition.
Provenance
From the Fortuna collection of engraved gems; acquired on the European art market in the late 1960s-early 1970s.
