Handwritten Ganǰ-Nāme: Pirkei Avos in Judeo-Persian Authored by Emrānī


A manuscript of Ganǰ-nāme, a commentary on tractate Avos accompanied by Midrashim and accounts, authored by the great poet Emrānī.

At the end of the treatise the author laments the death of a friend and writes several directives to his son by way of a will.

Owner's signature on the last page: Asher ben Yehuda Mizrachi

Emrānī (1454 - 1536) was born in the city of Isfahan and went on to become one of the prominant poets of Iran. He composed twelve compositions in total with this commentary on Pirkei Avos being his final work, completed during the last year of his life.
