Rare Letter from Rabbi Baruch Ber Leibowitz Written During His Stay in America, Detroit 1929

" I strongly request that you assist us, for it is assistance for our holy Torah."

Signed, handwritten letter from Rabbi Baruch Ber Leibowitz in which he notifies " that we are ready to come to his place next week, for the sake of establishing our holy yeshivah."

This letter was entirely handwritten by Rabbi Baruch Ber on special stationary from his sojourn in America.

Rabbi Baruch Ber Leibowitz (1862 – 1939) was a Torah leader in the generation prior to the Holocaust. His lectures were renowned throughout Poland and Lithuania and people traveled from across the world to hear his famed discourses. His fervent and deep analytical style shadowed that of his rabbi, Rabbi Chaim Soloveitchik. He was known for his deep concern for the well-being of each and every disciple, ensuring that they lacked for nothing. He authored Birchas Shmuel, one of the most prominent sefarim of the yeshiva world.
As a result of the financial strain facing the Kaminetz Yeshiva, Rabbi Baruch Ber traveled to the United States in 1927 with the blessing of the Chafetz Chaim. Accompanied by his son-in-law, Rabbi Reuven Grozovsky, he remained in the US for a year and a half, following which he returned to his yeshiva in Lithuania.
