Six Studio Photographs by Garabed Krikorian – Jerusalem
Six cabinet card photographs – taken in the studio of Garabed Krikorian in Jerusalem. Jerusalem, [late 19th century / early 20th century].
On the back of one photograph appears a dedication handwritten by the photographed (Joseph Lifshitz and Zipora Felman from Haifa), dated "Haifa, …" [1906].
Garabed Krikorian (1847-1918) was a Jerusalemite photographer of Armenian origin, born in Izmir. In the 1880s he opened a commercial photography studio in Jerusalem. He photographed not only in his studio but outside as well and, documented the visit of Kaiser Wilhelm II in Palestine in 1898 (afterwards adding to his photographs the title "Photographer of the Prussian Royal Court").
