Letter from Rabbi Chaim Leib Tiktinsky, First Mir Rosh Yeshivah, Together with His Son Rabbi Shmuel - Mir, 1877

A letter from Rabbi Chaim Yehuda Leib Tiktinsky, Rosh Mesivta of Mir, and his son Rabbi Shmuel Tiktinsky, regarding the financial establishment of the Mir Yeshivah.
In this letter, the Roshei Yeshivah ask that charity boxes for the yeshivah be placed in the homes of London's Jewish families.
Rabbi Chaim Leib and his son signed their names fully and Rabbi Shmuel adjoined four handwritten lines.
Rabbi Chaim Leib Tiktinsky (1824 - 1899) was the Rosh Yeshivah of Mir for over fifty years and had thousands of disciples, among them countless Torah leaders. He was known for his clear Torah discourses about which Rabbi Yisrael of Salant said that " whoever wishes to understand a leaf of Talmud properly, should go to Rabbi Chaim Leib of Mir." In 1876 he appointed his son Rabbi Shmuel as a Rosh Yeshivah as well. Unfortunately, Rabbi Shmuel passed away young during his father's lifetime.
