Koreh Be'Emet by Rabbi Yitzchak Dov Bamberger Av Beit Din of Wurzburg – With Important Additions Handwritten by Him, which have Never been Printed – Signature of His Son Rabbi Simcha Bamberger Author of "Avodat Ha'Leviyim"
The book 'Koreh Be'Emet', two sections. Commentary on Derashot 'Al Tikrei' of the Talmud and Midrashim. By Rabbi Yitzchak Dov Ha'Levi Bamberger, the rabbi and leader of the West European Jewish community and Av Beit Din of Wurzburg. First, rare edition.
Before us is the author's copy with important handwritten additions by him. Extremely rare!
The book contains two sections (which were printed during the author's lifetime).
Section A (on the Talmud): Frankfurt am Mein, 1871. 70 pp.
Section B (on the Midrashim): Meinz, 1878. Printed by Reb Yechiel Brill. 52 pp. with a blue cover.
Signatures and glosses
On page 26 of the first section, a lingual correction (three words), most likely handwritten by the author.
On the front cover, five important additions handwritten by the author which were not printed in his book.
On the back cover there is a long addition to page 69.
On the inner binding, the signature of Simcha Ha'Levi, the author's son.
On the title pages of the two sections of the book there is the signature of Rabbi Yitzchak Zvi Rakovsky, who was an emissary of the Torah institutions of Jerusalem and was known for his important library.
On the front cover of the second section, a signature of "Yitzchak Dov" (this, however, is most likely the signature of Yitzchak Zvi Rakovsky).
The author Rabbi Yitzchak Dov Ha'Levi Bamberger (1808-1879) was the leader of the West European Jewish community and one of the Poskim of his generation, especially after the death of his in-law, the "Aroch La'Ner". He served as the admired rabbi of Wurzburg since 1841 until his death. His descendants were pious and prominent Torah scholars who served as rabbis of various towns in Germany and Switzerland.
Hi son, Rabbi Simcha Bamberger (1832-1898) was the rabbi of several towns in Germany. He published articles in the religious journal "Torah Mi'Zion" (Jerusalem, 1895-1905) and authored the books "Avodat Ha'leviyim" and "Pkudat Ha'Leviyim".
Condition: Good. Original binding. Several leaves are loose or detached. The margins of several leaves are slightly worn. The front and back cover of the first sections (with the author's additions) are detached and their margins are slightly worn with minor damage to text.
