In 1905, Shloime Friedlander began working on what he claimed to be a manuscript of the Talmud Yerushalmi on Kodshim that his brother happened upon in Turkey. It was initially well received by many Rabbonim including R. Shalom Mordechai Schwadron, R. Yehuda Grunewald and R. Eliezer Deutsch who wrote warm approbations for the work. Shortly after its publication, many Rabbonim concluded that this work was a blatant forgery.
