[THE STORMING OF THE TUILERIES PALACE]: Also known as The 10th August Insurrection, was one of the defining events in the history of the French Revolution. The storming of the Tuileries by the National Guard resulted in the fall of the French monarchy six weeks later. An attractive multiple signed document, one page, 8vo, Paris, 23rd August 1792, to Joachim Payant, in French. The partially printed document is a certificate bearing the heading Vivre Libre ou Morir (`Live Free or Die), issued by Federated General Assembly, appointing for `having been in person during the 10th August affair acting with a brave and firmness behaviour´. Signed by Mazuel in his capacity as President of the Assembly, also signed by secretaries Bourgeois, Lang adding beneath `Winner of the Swiss Flag´ in his hand, Roux, Marguerit, and few more. With a red wax seal of the Winners of the 10th August 1792 at the base of the document. Small overall, minor age wear, otherwise VG £250-350 Albert Jean-Baptiste Mazuel (17??-1794) Adjudant-General of the Revolutionary army. Guillotined together with Hébert. Lang, signing this document, would replace Mazuel. Jean-Claude Bourgeois (1768-1794) official at the war department. Guillotined at the very early age of 26.
