Kuntress Mesores handwritten by the Mesorah expert, Rav Shalom Shachna Yellin.
Kuntress handwritten by the most prominent “ba’al mesorah” of recent generations, Rav Shalom Shachna Yellin, father of the author of the Yafeh Einyaim on the Talmud, with a list of “mesoros” on Nevi'im and Ketubim, in alphabetical order according to the word roots.
Rav Shalom Shachna Yellin (1770-1874) was undoubtedly the greatest expert of the Mesorah of recent times. He was an expert in the wording of the Torah and all ideas related to the Mesorah. He was world-renowned for his expertise and all the Gedolei Yisroel relied on him. In 1858, he moved to Eretz Israel and was sent to Aleppo by the sages of Jerusalem to check the wording of the Aleppo Codex and to precisely transcribe it. Rav Shmuel Salant used his transcription to designate the exact nusach for Nevi’im and Ketubim and scribes copied it for those who follow the custom of the Gra to read the Haftorah from parchment. His son was Rav Aryeh Leib Yellin, author of
Yefeh Einayim.
